Remembering — Lina’s First Vet Visit

Dear Readers,

As I continue to grieve the loss of Lina, I find that scrolling through her posts and paging through Lina Unleashed and Sit Stay Pray eases the hurt a bit, just remembering all the good times we shared. Right Lina?

And because we have received enthusiastic encouragement from followers who like reading the early posts, I have decided to go forward with the throwback, at least for now. Plus, we continue to have more views and visitors than usual (including from Hong Kong and Singapore this week), so as Lina would woof, we want to keep the ball rolling.

As I review old posts, I see there are certain themes that stand out including (of course) my general cluelessness, Lina’s countless and often unnecessary vet visits, her brushes with the law (caused by me and therefore her need to have Uncle Chuck, Esq. on retainer), my cheapness (when it came to her), my politics and her hatred/fear of water — exacerbated by living on one of the 10,000 Islands of Florida and on one of the 10,000 Lakes of Minnesota. What were the chances? yelped a little dog who was even scared of the rain.

I have decided to next re-post the story about Lina’s first visit to the vet, at least in Florida. So here goes. There is no picture, so I’m just going to add one of my favorites taken in Florida by Lina’s Aunt Celia! You can see where the moniker “Little Big Ears” came from.

Momma, Still trying to hold my head up on one of those dreaded 10,000 Islands
